Strengthening Avian Influenza Control Through Vaccination: Vaksindo Shares Technical Insights with the Philippines’ Bureau of Animal Industry

Manila, Philippines — Strengthening animal health requires not only effective technologies and solutions, but also continuous collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among stakeholders. As part of its commitment to supporting sustainable poultry production and advancing animal health across the region, Vaksindo recently contributed its expertise to ongoing efforts to strengthen Avian Influenza (AI) control through vaccination in the Philippines.

The engagement included a consultative meeting with Undersecretary Dr. Constante J. Palabrica of the Department of Agriculture of the Republic of the Philippines, followed by a technical training session for staff of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).

Representing Vaksindo, Dr. Teguh Prajitno, President Director of Vaksindo, and Alycius Noveno Pieter Riantama, DVM, International Sales & Technical Lead of Vaksindo Indonesia, participated in the engagement and shared practical insights and experiences on the application of vaccination as part of an integrated approach to Avian Influenza control.

The session provided an opportunity to discuss the role of vaccination within an integrated AI control program, including how appropriate vaccination strategies can support disease prevention and help reduce the impact of Avian Influenza on poultry populations.

Rather than viewing vaccination as a standalone intervention, the discussion emphasized the importance of integrating vaccination with other essential components of disease control. Effective implementation requires consideration of factors such as disease challenges, surveillance, flock management, biosecurity practices, vaccine application, and continuous monitoring.

Through the exchange of technical knowledge and field experience, the session aimed to strengthen understanding of how vaccination can be strategically incorporated into broader Avian Influenza control efforts.

Vaksindo’s participation in this engagement reflects its commitment to contributing beyond the provision of animal health products. Through technical knowledge sharing, professional engagement, and collaboration with stakeholders, Vaksindo aims to support the development of stronger and more sustainable animal health practices.

The engagement with the Philippines’ Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Animal Industry represents another step toward strengthening regional cooperation in animal health. It also reinforces the value of bringing together expertise from different markets to address common challenges faced by the poultry industry.
